About White Rose Saddlery
Realising that there was a gap in the market for a specialist racing saddlers in ‘The racing centre of the North’; White Rose Saddlery opened a shop in 1984, supplying local Malton trainers, jockeys and stable staff with all their requirements.
In 2007 the business relocated to a redeveloped part of a historic yard, ‘Wold House’ situated on the outskirts of Malton, adjacent to the gallops. The converted stables have provided the business with an excellent showroom and large saddlery workshop for resident Master Saddler and Proprietor, Wendy Hoggard, to manufacture and carry out repairs. Parking is available directly outside and horseboxes can pull up on the way to and from the gallops.
In 2009 White Rose opened a ‘satellite’ shop at Beverley racecourse. This is conveniently situated close to the weighing room and serves the racing fraternity on race days. We are pleased to sponsor annually a race for amateur flat jockeys at the course.
The website was launched in 2010 and has proved to be a useful on line shopping service for customers further afield.
White Rose Saddlery also attends many of the Yorkshire Area Point to Point meetings with their trade stand throughout the season and are also proud sponsors of the Yorkshire Area Point to Point Ladies Championship. In 2011 the business sponsored Guy Brewer who went on to become the Yorkshire Area Men’s Champion jockey.
White Rose Saddlery has always been keen to support young talented Yorkshire jockeys to provide a presence on professional race tracks. National Hunt jockey James Reveley and Flat jockey Dale Swift both presently fly the ’White Rose’ banner and are important representatives for the business through sponsorship.
